I never really though of this before. Does an electric sports car make a sound? Aparently not, sounds to stimulate the driver and pedestrian have to be recorded and played back over speakers. http://devour.com/video/audi-e-sound/
Ya I remember when electric cars started becoming popular. Blind people were getting killed because they couldn't hear cars coming. Soon after, laws came into effect requiring all cars to make a certain amount of noise.
I don't think there are any cars made nowadays that have speakers playing engine noise. It was one of those things where everybody talked about it, but nothing ever came out of it.
