So your original assertion that it takes lots of luck is false imo if you take the time and energy. Avoid the problematic makes/models, buy the best maintained, documented car for the price u can find (note that most dealers do not have this), get the ppi, do the needed maintenance, and there is a very good chance it will last a long time.
